Certified PLC Technician

Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Phoenix Contact , ABB, Schneider and Siemens are all examples of PLC brands embracing the IEC 61131-3 standard. This means that the mechanic or service technician can use his IEC61131-3 knowledge and skills to understand a program because IEC 61131-3 standardizes the programming languages and not the PLC hardware. This idea is the starting point for this exercise.

After the training the participant will be able to collect relevant information from a PLC for the purpose of clearing jams, by understanding the functioning of the PLC and the PLC program written in one of the IEC 61131-3 programming languages.

Training Form

All our courses are based on the model of task-based instruction. This model guarantees a seamless transition between learning and work situations. During the training the participant carries out learning activities based on realistic applications. The emphasis is not only on gaining product knowledge but also on learning job -related skills. By working on realistic applications, we speed up the learning process and the desired performance improvement.

Learning Processes

  • Read an IEC61131-3 program
  • Predict the behavior of an IEC61131-3 program written in LD, FBD , IL, ST or SFC
  • Perform a data modification during the execution of an IEC61131-3 program written in LD, FBD, IL, ST or SFC
IEC 61131-3, PLCopen, software model, communication model, programming model, data types, variables, functions and function blocks (including standard functions and function blocks), programs, tasks, Instruction List (IL), Structured Text (ST), Ladder Diagram (LD) , Function Block Diagram ( FBD) and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) .
